Welcome to America

Today we turn 19 years since we came to America. They were years of new experiences, fun and work. I loved every minute and hopefully we'll be here for another 19 years!!! We don't know that, but we hope....

Gay Pride Parade

...is a culmination of a week-long festivities, including the Mermaid parade in Conney Island. The original purpose of the parade on 5th Ave was to commemorate the 1969 riots at Stonewall Inn of gays and lesbians at the hands of NYPD. Through the years became an upbeat event that draws huge crowds, though always there is a moment of silence in the memory of the victims.
Today, we decided to walk over to Corina and Kevin 's place, but because the sidewalks were too crowded we ended up marching in the parade. We danced, laughed, and had a good time with the group we attached ourselves to.

Participants displayed an array of creative and original costumes...
and of course politicians... they don't miss any occasion to promote themselves...Posted by Picasa

"King of Pop" dies in LA

The news is shocking, I don't know what to say, I was debating if to write about this. but the tremendous coverage in the media convinced me that this will be one of the "where were you and what were you doing when this happened" moment.

...I was on the phone with Corina arranging things for tomorrow, when she is scheduled to have surgery for her wisdom teeth and I am going with her; Kevin and Coni are coming later. The TV was on and I heard the breaking news. Since then, non stop, friends, business partners or fans, share their personal stories and remember things about Michael Jackson. What a really great entertainer - he leaves us with a legacy of many No.1 hits and astounding dance moves, but off the stage very eccentric, wired and bizarre !!!! R.I.P. Posted by Picasa

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is a day honoring fathers, celebrated on the third Sunday of June, and it complements Mother's Day. It started in the early 12th century as a catholic holiday.
All of us, as always on such occasions, were invited by Kevin's parents for a BBQ. Unfortunately, the weather doesn't cooperate - since yesterday is raining on and off....

...and speaking of yesterday....Corina won $100 at Lotto and invited us to Bowlmor Lanes a well known bowling place here in the city, established in 1938. So now we can add our name to a long list of stars and personalities who bowled here: Drew Barrymore, Tim Allen, Rachel Ray, Tommy Hilfiger etc . We had a good time, it was something different on a boring rainy day. I have to say though, I'm not good at all at real bowling, I better stick with the Wii. Kevin was the winner, and I was the last one... as an excuse I can say that the ball was too heavy and I couldn't control it!!!!

Culmea impotentei / Pinnacle of impotence

I found this picture on Mircea Badea's blog (a Romanian journalist). I thought it was funny and I hope you will be amused by it too... The bored guy who helps himself with his hands to smile is a well known Romanian politician, now an elected Euro parliamentarian. The picture was taken during a campaign rally for his election. No other comments are necessary!!!

Election Day in Europe

As you can see, I didn't forget that today people around the countries in Europe are heading to the pools to elect their European Parliament representatives. I was not interested in the process and I wasn't paying to much attention, but the little that I learned didn't convince me to go and vote....maybe if Romania would've had a Pirate Party as Sweden, things would've been more fun!!!
You, the Predas and mama with whom did you vote? With EBA or Gigi Becali?

Cedar Creek Park

Approximately a month ago, Amy and Eddie got married in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and yesterday they threw a party here in Long Island so those who could not made the trip to have the occasion to congratulate them too. It was very different from a traditional wedding reception, more like a picnic because of the location, in a park, dressed casually and having classical American BBQ food. We had a good time though, and the weather was very nice. The highlight of the party was a bagpipe band singing Irish folk songs!!! The surprise... an Irish bagpipe band entertained the guests!

.... and Eddie, the groom, playing the bagpipe

Corina, Kevin, uncle Johnny, Amy and Eddy -the bride and groom

I and Coni...nice...what do you think?
