Martisor

Out of all Romanian traditions Martisorul is the one that I like the most. The name comes from the old name for March (mart) and it means little or dear March. Martisorul is a red and white string from which is tided a small charm (decoration) and is worn by women pinned to their blouses, for the first days of the month. The red and white thread represents the eternal cycle of nature and the charm will bring you luck for the rest of the year.

Corina , this is for you...Happy Spring!

PS. On this date in 1845 president John Tyler signed a bill authorizing the United States to annex Texas and in 1872 Yellowstone became a National Park...
PS2. In 1994 Justin Bieber, the Canadian singer sensation, was born... I saw him on the news with his girlfriend... I don't care, but I thought it's fun to mention it!
